Business Objects Extends Supply Chain Intelligence

Section: 02. Today's News
July 2002

Business Objects SA, a leading provider of business intelligence (BI) software, has enhanced its modular Supply Chain Intelligence analytic application with three new modules that extend visibility across the supply chain to help companies measure, analyze and optimize their online ordering, procurement, production, delivery, and returns processes.

The three new modules are: BusinessObjects Plan Analytics, which monitors costs across the entire supply chain, checks asset utilization, and analyzes inventory levels to better balance supply with demand; BusinessObjects Make Analytics, offers pre-built analytics that help to identify unplanned downtime, quality issues, or poor scheduling that could negatively impact throughput and costs; and BusinessObjects Return Analytics, providing quick analysis of return reasons, return value, disposal choices and costs, and the reverse supply chain performance over time.

The three modules embed best practice analytic principles adopted from the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model and are all expected to be generally available on Windows NT and Windows 2000 by the end of July 2002.

Supply chain analytics is the latest application segment being targeted by Levallois-Perret Cedex, France- based Business Objects, and other established BI vendors such as Informatica Corp. Its Supply Chain Intelligence solution - which is part of BusinessObjects Analytics, an integrated suite of enterprise analytic applications - is expanding rapidly, and also includes BusinessObjects Source Analytics (for analyzing inbound supply chain processes) and BusinessObjects Deliver Analytics (for outbound supply chain processes), both of which were released in January 2002. Business Objects is also a member of the Supply-Chain Council (SCC).
